<The Scrap>, photography exhibition/sales platform organized in 2016 held annually. The very original ideas of the project received positive feedbacks both from art scenes and public audiences. In 2018, <The Scrap> will be held in ‘Culture Station Seoul 284’ from June 9 to 13, 2018 with the support of Platform 284, the project which experience the possibilities of cultural attempts without the borders between exhibition, performance, market, festivals. By introducing 1,000 works of 100 artists annually and distributing them, <The Scrap> offers the artists the experience of selling the photographic works during the tight art market. Adding the element of “Consuming” to the exhibition, this project let the audiences to enjoy and concentrate on the content of the exhibition and also offer the audiences the experience of purchasing the works. <The Scrap> aims these experiences could be the starting point of expanding the lifestyle to have a pleasure in owning the artworks in one’s life. Related programs including the screening and international forum will be held during the event. Kohei Oyama, the director of independent art publisher “Newfave” and Wei-I Lee, editor in chief of Taiwanese photography magazine “Voice of Photography” will share the contemporary practices around photography. Including Gang Hong-goo, Koo Bohnchang, Chung Seoyoung, from the represent Korean art to emerging young artists, from the photographers to painters, designers, performers, researchers, artists from diverse genres have been involved in <The Scrap>. This years’ 100 participating artists(teams) will be announced in June 1, 2018 at the website(the-scrap.com).
<더 스크랩>은 사진 전시/판매 플랫폼으로 2016년부터 시작했으며 참신한 기획으로 예술계와 대중 모두로부터 모두 좋은 평가를 받았다. 2018년 더 스크랩은 누구에게나 열려있는 복합문화공간이자 다양한 문화예술이 창작되고 교류가 이뤄지는 문화역 284에서 전시, 공연, 마켓·축제 등 분야와 장르의 제한 없이 가능성을 실험하고 새로운 장을 함께 만들어나가는 “플랫폼284” 프로젝트 주최로 6월 9일부터 13일까지 개최될 예정이다. <더 스크랩>은 매해 작가 100명의 작업 1,000점을 소개하고 시장에 유통시킴으로써 시장이 경직된 시기에 작가에게는 사진을 판매하는 경험을 제공했다. 전시에 ‘구매’라는 요소를 덧붙임으로써 관객으로하여금 ‘소비’라는 익숙하고 즐거운 코드를 통해 전시에 집중하고 친근하게 작품을 구매하는 경험을 제공했다. 이는 생활 속에서 미술작품을 향유하고 구매하는 라이프스타일의 확장을 유도할 것으로 기대한다. 부대행사로는 일본의 젊은 사진작가들의 사진집을 발간하고 소개하고 있는 독립출판사 Newfave의 디렉터 코헤이 오야마와 대만의 사진잡지 VOP(Voice of Photography)의 편집장 웨이-아이 리를 초청하여 사진을 둘러싼 동시대의 실천과 고민을 함께 나누고 <더 스크랩>을 통해 제기된 사진 매체에 대한 질문들에 대해 토론하는 포럼과 ‘모두의 스크랩’(스크리닝) 등이 열릴 예정이다. <더 스크랩>에는 강홍구, 구본창, 정서영 등 국내 대표 작가에서부터 젊은 작가에 이르기까지, 사진 작가에서부터 젊은 회화, 디자인, 퍼포먼스, 연구자 등 다양한 분야의 작업자들이 참여해왔으며 올해의 참여작가 100명(팀)은 6월 1일 웹사이트(the-scrap.com)를 통해 확인할 수 있다.
